Tina Freitas is a candidate for the Virginia Senate in 2019, challenging incumbent Emmett Hanger in a Republican primary. They are running in the 24th District, which stretches from Staunton through Culpeper County. Freitas is a social and fiscal conservative who has been an active volunteer for Republican causes. She is married to state Del. Nick Freitas, R-Culpeper.
