Scott Bessent, an appointee of President Donald Trump, was confirmed as the 79th Treasury Secretary in 2025. Previously, he served as chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Key Square Capital Management, a global hedge fund he founded in 2015. Before that, Bessent was chief investment officer of Soros Fund Management. He has served as an adjunct professor at Yale University, teaching economic history.
