Robert McDonald was named eighth secretary of Veteran Affairs by President Barack Obama and was confirmed by the Senate on July 29, 2014. Previously, McDonald was chairman, president, and chief executive officer of the Procter & Gamble Company. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1975.
