Previewing the Sunday Jan. 5 news shows

The political conversation turns to Sochi this Sunday.

Terror attacks in the Russian city hosting the Winter Olympics in February have stirred up security concerns.

Fox News Sunday will show an interview with former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who led the organizing committee for the 2002 games in Salt Lake City.

Over on NBC, Meet the Press moderator David Gregory tweeted he will have an exclusive interview with Janet Napolitano, former Department of Homeland Security secretary and the leader of the U.S. delegation to the games.

CNN’s State of the Union had not released its full guest list early Friday but said it will have interviews with the director of the White House National Economic Council, Gene Sperling, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

ABC’s This Week, meanwhile, is touting interviews with Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. ABC panelists include Cokie Roberts, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, Republican strategist and CNN contributor Ana Navarro, former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer and BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith.

CBS’ Face the Nation has Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republicans Reps. Peter King of New York and Matt Salmon of Arizona. Panelists include Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal, David Ignatius of the Washington Post, David Sanger of the New York Times and John Dickerson of CBS.
