Former President Donald Trump has repeated baseless claims that Haitian immigrants are eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

But a purported Truth Social post from the Republican presidential nominee that alludes to this isn’t authentic.

“Your life is a total mess!” reads what looks like a screenshot of a Truth Social post from Trump in all caps. “You’re broke, can’t even afford cookies! Immigrants are taking and eating your pets, folks! Women are miserable-notsexy, not safe! Everything you love is gone, completely destroyed! Everything is horrible! You better elect me so I can fix it, and I will-big time! | know I said this in 2016, but this time I really mean it! Let’s make America great again, again!”

A Threads post sharing this screenshot was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

This post doesn’t appear in Trump’s Truth Social feed, and we found no evidence that he posted the statement and then deleted it. News outlets have covered previous incidents of the former president deleting his posts, for reasons including a typo, but there are no such articles about this supposed post.

That’s because this appears to have originated as satire, though the Threads post shared it without that context.

It says as much in the bottom right corner of a bigger, more complete image of the fake Truth Social screenshot.

Plus, the X account sharing the image with the “satire” label notes in its bio: “Sometimes I post parody and satire.”

We rate claims this is an authentic Trump post False.
