Gordon Ramsay didn’t kick Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz out of Hell’s Kitchen, despite online claims

After purportedly kicking transgender swimmer Lia Thomas out of his restaurant, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay set his sights on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee.

At least according to social media posts taking fabricated news out of context.

“Gordon Ramsay calls Tim Walz a ‘woke creep,’ throws him out of Hell’s Kitchen,” a Sept. 6 Facebook post said, referring to a Ramsay restaurant with seven locations across the country, including Washington, D.C.

But this claim, like the one about Thomas, originated on a self-described satire site.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

A Facebook page that posts satirical content shared the claim Sept. 4 on its account with one major caveat: it was clearly “rated satire,” whereas the Sept. 6 Facebook post included no such label.

The satirical account also linked to a blog post clearly labeled “satire” that spins a tale in which Walz was a guest on Ramsay’s reality cooking show also called “Hell’s Kitchen.”

We found no evidence, such as credible news reports, photos or videos, that Walz and Ramsay scuffled in a restaurant, much less on a reality show.

We rate this post False.
