No, this video doesn’t show a liberal who vowed to eat dog food until Kamala Harris is president

Some people write letters to voters in swing states to encourage them to cast a ballot. Others make calls and knock on doors in hopes their candidate will be elected. But recent Instagram posts claim a supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, is eating only dog food. 

“Suppertime,” reads the text above a video  showing a woman on her hands and knees, flanked by two dogs and eating from what looks like a bowl of kibble. “I’m eating dog food until Kamala is president.” 

The caption of an Oct. 21 post sharing the video said: “Liberal woman films herself eating DOG FOOD. ‘I’m eating dog food until Kamala is president.’”

A reverse-image search of a screenshot of the video led us to an Aug. 18 TikTok video from an account called @lassiesworld4. This video featured the text “suppertime” but didn’t mention Harris. 

“It was just dry kibble tonight,” the caption said. 

In a description of the account’s content, the video’s Polish creator Blanka Szewczyk wrote that “I cosplay as my character, a collie called Lassie. I entertain a crowd with my dog-like behaviour and everyday antics.”

After PolitiFact messaged the account about the altered video claiming that Szewczyk was eating dog food until Harris is president, Szewczyk wrote back, misspelling “Kamala.” 

“That is not my video, and I never said that I was eating dog food until Kamila Harris becomes president.”
