A recent Facebook post floats the idea of a scandal where none exists.

“Michelle Obama humiliated after embarrassing photo emerges,” the April 13 post said.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

In the comments, the poster linked to a Dec. 1, 2023, article on a conservative media website that mentions no photo.

“Speculation runs wild after Michelle Obama joins Clintons, Biden alone on Air Force One,” read the article’s title. The story focused largely on polling numbers at the time but mentioned Obama flying on Air Force One with President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to attend a memorial service for former first lady Rosalynn Carter.

We looked for credible news stories that an “embarrassing photo” of Obama has recently emerged and came up empty. Politicians and pundits have also long pushed a theory that Michelle Obama will run for president, a notion she has repeatedly denied.

As for an embarrassing photo, there’s no evidence of that, either, and we rate this Facebook post False.
