“Real or fake?” asked one Instagram user in the comments of a post that appears to show someone on ABC’s “The View” interrupting Republican presidential candidate Will Hurd.

“Here is what I think is important,” says Hurd, a former Texas representative. “Donald Trump is a threat to our national security.

“Oh, brother, please,” the man who appears to be sitting next to him says. “We all know that the country and the world was more secure under Trump so please just shut the hell up with the talking point for dummies.”

The video then cuts to what looks like a speechless Whoopi Goldberg, who co-hosts the show, as Hurd is rendered speechless.

Text then says, “Signal lost we will be back soon.”

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

That’s because, to answer the Instagram user’s question, this video is fake.

The original footage from “The View,” on which Hurd appeared in July, shows Hurd calling Trump a threat to national security as the audience applauds.

The man who appears to be sitting next to Hurd in the Instagram video didn’t actually appear on the show.

Rather, the man — Damon Imani — created the altered video now circulating social media. The handle @damonimani can be seen faintly in the video’s corner.  He called the video satirical on Twitter.
