At first glance, it looks like model Kendall Jenner is holding a “Black Lives Matter” sign over her head in a photo that’s being shared on social media. But if you look more closely, you can see the shadow behind her shows no sign — just two hands aloft.

“Why did she photoshop it,” one post sharing the image said.

It was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

The image isn’t new. It started circulating online enough in 2020 that Jenner addressed it on Twitter.

“This is photoshopped by someone. I DID NOT post this,” she wrote in a Twitter reply on June 6 2020.

In the original image, which news reports said at the time was taken at her birthday celebration in 2019, Jenner is holding a water bottle and she’s not wearing a face mask, as she appears to be in the altered photo.
