Flip-flop: Rick Perry newly opposes Export-Import Bank

By W. Gardner Selby
May 8, 2015

In 2014, then-Gov. Rick Perry urged Congress to keep afloat the federal Export-Import Bank.

In May 2015, former Gov. Perry, a Republican presidential prospect, said let the bank die.

On the PolitiFact Flip-O-Meter, his shift led us to give Perry a Full Flop rating.

We were helped in this judgment by Perry putting his position in writing both times. Read the full Flip-O-Meter story here.

Footnote: This is our second recent Flip-O-Meter finding per Perry. He earlier landed a Half Flip on supporting in-state tuition for immigrants living here without legal authorization.
