Davis overstatement: Abbott seeks to force standardized tests on 4-year-olds

In an illustration, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Wendy Davis said Greg Abbott wants 4-year-olds forced to take standardized tests.

We saw an element of truth to her claim. But Abbott, the Republican choice for governor, hasn’t proposed such a mandate. His proposal affecting pre-kindergarten offerings would leave it to school districts to pick a method of assessing the quality of classes.
