Your early vote can be of primary importance

By Sue Owen
February 18, 2014

If you’re thinking you’ll wait to vote till November, you could miss your chance to affect some important Texas races. Early voting for the March 4 primaries runs Feb. 18-28.

Same for local races — for example, most Travis County races will be settled by the primaries, as we found in a recent fact-check.

To find a list of the candidates who’ve filed to run both statewide and in races involving your county, visit this Texas Secretary of State web page.

Here are some statewide candidates who’ve been “PolitiFacted” — including several you might not see again after March 4. This isn’t a comprehensive scorecard: Some of the items are lighthearted — ones involving catfish and bison, for example — and more names will join the list soon.
