The details behind David Dewhurst’s security detail

Todd Staples, among challengers to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in this year’s Republican primary, said during a debate last week that Dewhurst is the first lieutenant governor of Texas to have a security detail.

That appears correct, though Staples didn’t clarify a couple things.
