Texas worst in voter turnout? Maybe Indiana

By W. Gardner Selby
December 1, 2014

Democratic strategist Jason Stanford partly attributed his party’s worse-than-expected loss in the Texas governor’s race to low voter turnout. And in his commentary printed in the Nov. 17, 2014, Austin American-Statesman, Stanford also said: “Texas had the worst voter participation in the country.”

Reporter Dylan Baddour looked into that, learning that when all votes are finally tallied and official, Texas could well end up being No. 50 in voter turnout. At the time Stanford scribed, though, Indiana unofficially had worse turnout.

There’s plenty more to this tale. Read on here.
