Sadler, Cruz saddle up for second debate

By W. Gardner Selby
October 19, 2012

U.S. Senate hopefuls Ted Cruz and Paul Sadler are poised to debate this evening for the second time since each man won his party’s respective nomination in July.

The debate, at KERA-TV in Dallas, starts at 7 p.m. They are battling to succeed Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Republican who did not seek another term.

Cruz, the Republican nominee, and Sadler, the Democratic aspirant, will field questions from a panel including Peggy Fikac, Austin bureau chief for the San Antonio Express-News/Houston Chronicle; Ross Ramsey, executive editor of The Texas Tribune; and Pedro Rojas, reporter/news anchor for Houston’s Univision station, KXLN-Channel 45.

Beyond Dallas, it will air on various stations including Austin’s KLRU-TV, Channel 18. Scroll down this page to check your local broadcasters.

We’ve posted some of our past checks of statements by Sadler and Cruz to the right. But we’ll be live-tweeting the debate Friday night and would welcome your nudges if you notice a claim that bears close review. Saddle up!
