To suggest a fact-check, tweet with #PolitiFactThis

Some of our best fact-checks start from our “in” box.

We get lots of suggestions from emails, and many eventually get published as Truth-O-Meter fact-checks.

During the presidential debate last week, PolitiFact in Washington used the #PolitiFactThis hashtag on Twitter to allow you to suggest claims to check. Its researchers got lots of ideas that led to fact-checks on Massachusetts schools, Mitt Romney’s tax plan and tax breaks for green energy companies.

That was such a success that they’re going to be using #PolitiFactThis every day. So if you see a claim you think they should check, tweet a short description with the hashtag and a link, and you might kick-start a close review.

As always, we welcome your suggestions by email. Send them to politifact@statesman.com or truthometer@politifact.com.
