Ted Cruz, Paul Sadler, the Texas Truth-O-Meter

By W. Gardner Selby
October 2, 2012

Ted Cruz and Paul Sadler rumbled in a debate in Dallas. But both already had Truth-O-Meter report cards.

Cruz, the former state solicitor general making his first run for public office, overtook Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in a July 2012 runoff to win the Republican U.S. Senate nomination. On the same day, Sadler, a former Texas House member from East Texas, defeated a little-known retired schoolteacher to win the Democratic nod.

Whoever wins on Nov. 6, 2012, will be set to succeed Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican who did not seek another term.

Paw some of our fact-checks of Sadler and Cruz to the right.

Or, skip to Cruz’s Truth-O-Meter report card here. Sadler’s report card is here.

What candidate claims in the debate hosted by WFAA-TV struck your interest?

May both aspirants make many additional declarations worth checking.
