Report cards for Ted Cruz, Tammy Baldwin, Tim Kaine

By W. Gardner Selby
November 7, 2012

It shouldn’t surprise that we’ve built a Truth-O-Meter report card for Ted Cruz, the Houston lawyer and tea-party favorite who sailed to victory for the U.S. Senate seat long held by Kay Bailey Hutchison.

But two other Senate newcomers come with PolitiFact-checked histories.

U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, the Democrat who defeated former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson for the Senate seat being relinquished by Herb Kohl, was tracked on the hustings by our colleagues at PolitiFact Wisconsin.

Tim Kaine, the Democrat who beat a fellow former governor to win in Virginia, has been watched by PolitiFact Virginia.

Unlike Cruz, neither Kaine nor Baldwin has had a statement judged to be Pants on Fire.

Peruse Cruz’s report card here or click to Baldwin’s fact-check history here and Kaine’s report card here.

Going forward, of course, we’re interested in hearing of any claims that might bear close review. What do you hear?
