Fact-checking the whoppin’ Texas ballot

By W. Gardner Selby
November 4, 2012

What a whoppin’ ballot!

In Austin and Travis County, the November 2012 ballot goes on for pages, extending from the U.S. presidential race to the U.S. Senate and congressional and legislative and local-office races, then leaping to propositions related to spending initiatives and changes in governance and even the timing of certain elections.

Makes us feel like (almost) like we’re in referendum-rich California.

In the interest of ferreting out falsehoods, we completed Truth-O-Meter articles checking numerous candidates and propositions on the ballot. See a sampling piled to the right and keep in mind, too, that there’s much more just about the presidential race at our papa site, PolitiFact in Washington.

In Texas, the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 6.

You are allowed to bring a fact-check or more with you.
