As Obama heads to Gulf, the facts on the spill

With cable television stations showing live images of oil gushing from a broken well, President Barack Obama is visiting the Gulf Coast today.

We’ve been checking claims related to the spill, such as Ed Schultz’s Pants-on-Fire claim about Sen. Mary Landrieu’s contributions from BP, a False claim by Landrieu that Louisiana doesn’t get a single penny from offshore revenues and Katrina vanden Heuvel’s True claim that energy companies spend 0.25 percent of their revenue on R&D.
