By W. Gardner Selby
December 25, 2014

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a possible 2016 presidential candidate, this year told a reporter for WFAA-TV, Channel 8 in Dallas, that the Islamic State group, in the news for numerous acts including killings of two U.S. journalists, is “right now crucifying Christians in Iraq, literally nailing Christians to trees.”

Crucifixions as in killing someone by nailing or tying his or her hands and feet to a cross or, as Cruz said, a tree?

We identified no such evidence for a story that ended up our No. 2-most-viewed story of 2014.
