Medicare cuts, a talking point that sticks around

By Becky Bowers
November 2, 2012

PolitiFact in Washington has identified a Medicare talking point that won’t die.

We will guess that you have already heard it: To pay for Obamacare, President Barack Obama would harm seniors by cutting $716 billion from Medicare.

It’s a line that began in congressional debate and got a few mentions in news accounts. That was then. Of late, this claim has been repeated by dozens — maybe hundreds — of politicians.

PolitiFact in Washington digs into details starting here. (Texas bonus: We’ve stacked a few of our own health-care fact checks to the right.)
