Kate, the Princess of Wales, announced in September that she had completed chemotherapy for cancer.

But misinformation about the royal continues to spread on social media.

“Sad news!’ a Dec. 12 Facebook post said. “Prince William’s face turned pale as he read the latest test results for his wife, Kate. Saddened, he turned to her and said, ‘Let’s go home, my love. I’m sorry, we’re out of options!”

The post included an image of Prince William and someone resembling a hairless Kate, appearing to lie in a bed.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

The image of Kate isn’t authentic. A reverse-image search led us to a website where it was identified as artificial intelligence art that was generated using this prompt: “Kate Middleton lies bald in the hospital bed but still smiles brightly.”

In September, Kate said she had completed chemotherapy and was “looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

She said she was entering a “new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”

Kensington Palace revealed a Christmas card from William and Kate in December that used an image from the video.

We rate claims this is an authentic photo of her without hair False.
