Taylor Swift “admits to having done immoral things with Diddy in the past to gain fame.”

Pants on Fire!

No, Taylor Swift didn’t confess to ‘immoral things with Diddy’

If your time is short

  • This claim is unfounded.

  • We found no credible evidence, such as news reporting, public statements or interview footage to corroborate the claim that Taylor Swift confessed to something "immoral" with Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Some examples of recent breaking news stories: when singer-songwriter Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, and when federal agents arrested music magnate Sean “Diddy” Combs on Sept. 16 for  charges including sex trafficking.

An Oct. 1 Facebook post suggests a third such story brings both celebrities under one headline.

“BREAKING: ‘Taylor Swift breaks down in tears, apologizing and asking for forgiveness from her boyfriend Travis Kelce as she admits to having done immoral things with Diddy in the past to gain fame, leaving fans disappointed,’” the post said.

It was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

A link in the post’s comments promised a “full story.” It led to a blog post that claimed Swift “broke down in tears” during a live interview with Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team.

The blog post gave no further details, such as when and where this purported interview happened. It included an image of Swift making an emotional face but that photo is old, from a 2012 appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Photos of Swift and Combs that are even older have spread on social media since his arrest. They show the musicians at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

But we found no credible evidence, such as news reporting, public statements or interview footage to corroborate the claim that Swift said she did something “immoral” with Combs.
