President Joe Biden is going to trial for “treason,” “sedition” and “crimes against humanity.”

Pants on Fire!

No, President Joe Biden isn’t facing trial for treason, sedition and other crimes

  • This claim is unfounded.

As intense media coverage of former President Donald Trump’s legal problems proves, the looming criminal trials of a current or former commander in chief is big news.

We haven’t heard that President Joe Biden, former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are being hauled into court for betraying their country. Nor is former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

But a recent Facebook post suggests this is the case.

“BOOOOOM!,” the oddly punctuated Aug. 28 post says. “BIDEN-C.LI.N.TON-OB.A.M.A T.RI.ALS FOR TR.EA.SON-S.ED.ITION-C.RIM.ES A.GA.INST H.UMA.NITY!”

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

The post’s video refers to the QAnon movement, which perpetuates unfounded conspiracy theories about Trump fighting against a satanic deep state and child sex trafficking cabal. It provides no credible evidence that Biden, Obama or either Clinton are facing a sedition, treason or crimes against humanity trial.

That’s because there is none.

We found no news reports, of which there would be plenty, to corroborate this claim. The PACER database of federal court cases also includes nothing to lend these allegations credence. They’re unfounded.

We rate them Pants on Fire!
