A news clip showing President Joe Biden descending what appears to be Air Force One followed by someone in a dress has been repackaged for social media with misinformation.
“Biden getting off plane with little boy dressed like a girl,” the March 15 post says.
This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
The person in the photo is Biden’s adult granddaughter, Natalie Biden, daughter of the late Beau Biden. She turned 18 in November, when the president posted a video of him and her as she voted for the first time.
“I just turned 18,” she said in the video that was posted to YouTube on Nov. 3, 2022.
In March, she accompanied her grandfather to Las Vegas. Multiple news organizations, including Getty Images, the Las Vegas Sun and the Nevada Independent, reported on the trip and identified Natalie Biden by name in photo captions.
