“Breaking news!” a March 21 Facebook post announced. “There was a raid on the Biden residence yesterday by the military!”

But there’s no evidence to support this claim, and the source the post cited for this statement is a man who has perpetuated QAnon conspiracy theories such as claims that John F. Kennedy Jr. faked his death.

This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

We found nothing to corroborate the allegation that the military raided the Biden residence on March 20, whether that refers to President Joe Biden’s White House abode, his beach house in Delaware, the home of his son, Hunter Biden, or any other Biden-affiliated residence.

In October, we fact-checked a claim that the military had raided the younger Biden’s home and rated it Pants on Fire. The story was fabricated and posted on a website that has previously published false news.

Searching online for news reports about a military raid involving any of the Bidens, we found articles about the president discussing in February a U.S. military raid in Syria that left an ISIS leader dead, but nothing involving the president or his family members as a target.

The post is unfounded, and we rate it Pants on Fire.
