Vinayak Bhardwaj joined Africa Check in March 2016. He previously ran the Freedom of Information and Expression programme at the Open Society Foundation for South Africa. Before OSF-SA he worked as advocacy coordinator at the AmaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism where he was part of the team that won the 2013/4 Taco Kuiper award for investigative journalism and a special commendation for the CNN African Journalist of the Year award.
