Gregory Smith is a veteran reporter for the Providence Journal, most recently having covered public safety in Providence. Since he began work at The Journal in 1972, he has been a reporter in suburban bureaus and at Providence City Hall, managed the Journal’s former news bureaus in Woonsocket and Greenville, and served as deputy business editor and as a copy editor. Smith has a bachelor of science degree in journalism and political science from Syracuse University.
