As the term ends, still nothing sold for debt-relief

As part of his "one-year agenda to change Milwaukee County,” Chris Abele promised to sell "underused county facilities” to pay down the county"s debt.

Abele"s one-year term term as county executive is coming to an end as he runs unopposed for re-election to a full four-year term in April 2012.

So far, he hasn't sold any such property though his administration has "actively sought opportunities to sell underused assets” and taken steps to meet the goal, Abele chief of staff Amber Moreen told us in February 2012, when we rated this promise Stalled. She said the steps include provisions in the 2012 budget for a facilities study and for creating a new until that will help county leaders "consider the best strategic use of county assets.”

But as of late March 2012, no such sales had yet been made, said Abele spokesman Brendan Conway.

We rate this a Promise Broken.

Nothing sold, so nothing to help pay the debts

As part of his "one-year agenda to change Milwaukee County,” Chris Abele promised to sell "underused county facilities” to pay down the county"s debt.

Abele's one-year term term as county executive is coming to an end as he runs for re-election to a full four-year term in April 2012.

So far, he hasn't sold any such property, though his administration has "actively sought opportunities to sell underused assets” and taken steps to meet the goal, said his chief of staff, Amber Moreen.

Moreen said the steps include provisions in the 2012 budget for a facilities study and for creating a new until that will help county leaders "consider the best strategic use of county assets.”

With little time left in Abele's term to make a sale that would generate proceeds for debt payment, we rate this promise Stalled.
