Video shows Elon Musk talking about an “AI cryptocurrency trading platform” he launched.

False

Wait, was Elon Musk discussing cryptocurrency? No. The video was altered.

“It is one of his first interviews since he bought Twitter,” a BBC News anchor says in a video posted June 14 on Facebook. An image of the social media platform’s owner, Elon Musk, appears behind her. Then, the video cuts to footage of Musk, wearing headphones and speaking into a microphone. The word “BitSoft360” appears in the top left corner.

“Lately, I launched an AI cryptocurrency trading platform called BitSoft360 AI,” Musk appears to say in the clip. “With the software, you invest only $300 and you will earn up to $5,000 every single day. So, I encourage everyone to join me. Click on this video to learn more about this unique opportunity.

The clip in the video isn’t from after Musk’s Twitter purchase in 2022. Rather, it comes from a 2018 appearance Musk made on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

Musk didn’t mention BitSoft or cryptocurrency during the interview.

We found no evidence that Musk is affiliated with something called BitSoft or BitSoft360. When we clicked on the video, as Musk appears to suggest in the clip, the link leads to a webpage posing as the website for British tabloid The Sun. But the website gives it away: something called hongfahk, an a url that includes references to women’s T-shirts and a “gym king.”

We rate this post False.
