Tulsi Gabbard
Tulsi Gabbard is national intelligence director, confirmed Feb. 11, 2025, by the Senate. She represented Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District after being elected to the office in 2012. She was the first Samoan-American and first Hindu member of the U.S. Congress. She was reelected in 2014, 2016 and 2018. She switched to the Republican Party in 2024 and President Donald Trump in November 2024 nominated her to be national intelligence director. Gabbard had been in active service for more than 10 years and has served in the Hawaii Army National Guard. Gabbard received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hawaii Pacific University. In 2019, she announced she would run for the Democratic nomination for president; she exited the race in March 2019.
