Tom Craddick
Tom Craddick of Midland, a House member since 1969, was elected by that body as the first Republican House speaker in 2003 and won the post again in 2005 and 2007 before Rep. Joe Straus of San Antonio was chosen in 2009. He is the most senior member of the House.
