Shelly Moore, as a high school teacher in Ellsworth and local teacher union president, ran for the Wisconsin Senate as a Democrat in 2011 when incumbent Sen. Sheila Harsdorf, R-River Falls, was recalled following her vote in favor of Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget-repair bill. Harsdorf defeated Moore.
