Mary Taylor lost the Republican primary for Ohio governor in 2018. She is the lieutenant governor of Ohio, elected in 2008 with Gov. John Kasich. She is the director of the Ohio Department of Insurance and also heads Kasich's “Common Sense Initiative” to reform Ohio’s regulatory policies. Prior to becoming lieutenant governor, she was a auditor of Ohio and a member of the General Assembly.
