Ashley Moody, a Republican, was appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill the vacancy caused when Marco Rubio resigned to become secretary of state. Moody took the oath of office Jan. 21, 2025. She served as Florida's Attorney General from 2019 to 2025. She is a former Hillsborough County circuit court judge and a former federal prosecutor.
