Annette Taddeo announced in October 2021 that she is running in the Democratic primary for Florida governor. Taddeo was elected in September 2017 as a state senator in Miami-Dade County. She is a former chairwoman of the Miami-Dade Democratic party. She lost a Democratic primary for Congressional District 26 against Joe Garcia in 2016. She ran for lieutenant governor on a ticket with former Gov. Charlie Crist in 2014 and lost.
