Update on how Evers is faring on promises

With Gov. Tony Evers’ first state budget completed, it’s time to look back on some of his budget-related promises.

This is what we use to track promises Democratic Gov. Tony Evers made. Similar to our Truth-O-Meter, we’ll assign a rating based on the status of the promise: In the Works, Stalled, Compromise, Promise Kept or Promise Broken. (We did the same for Gov. Scott Walker’s promises.)

Here is a look at how some of his major promises fared:

— Restore state funding for schools to two-thirds level in 2019-21 budget

— Accept federal Medicaid expansion money

— Increase spending on local road maintenance

— Increase school funding by $1.4 billion over two years in first budget

— Cut middle class income taxes by 10 percent

— Increase spending on technical schools and UW System
